The Chitwan National Park is regarded as one of Nepal’s biggest attractions and is Nepal’s first national park. Formerly named the Royal Chitwan National park and established in 1973, it became a World Heritage Site in 1984. Its forests and grasslands extend over more than 2600 square km and it is home to approximately 800 rhinos. There are around 700 different species of wildlife when you include butterflies, moths and insects. With at least 43 species of mammals and over 500 identified species of bird it really does have something for everyone. Accessible from the nearby Bharatpur Airport, Sauraha we offer a standard 3 day package but let us know if you’d like to spend longer here. It’s a truly magical place either as relaxation after a strenuous climb or trek or as a stand-alone tour. Often one of the highlights of this visit is seeing elephants close up and getting the chance to wash then in the river.
Trek Duration: 6 hours
We drive to Chitwan National park on a private tourist vehicle from Kathmandu. During the drive on the highway you can take time to view the many picturesque Hills and Rivers. The drive takes around six hours from Kathmandu but there is plenty to see on the way. On reaching the resort, you are briefed by our Guest Relations Officer. After lunch you will head out to visit one the local villages and villagers who will gladly show you around their home. Here you can relax and watch the sun slowly set and if you are lucky you may see fireflies after dark. Overnight at Resort.(Lunch and dinner included if taken at the resort).
After Breakfast we head out for a morning tour which provides one of the best opportunities to see the wildlife at its best with either a Jeep Safari or a jungle Walk. If we are lucky, we will get to see wild rhinoceros and there have even been sightings of tigers although this is exceptionally rare. After Lunch we go for canoe ride in a hollowed out tree truck and watch crocodiles along the banks of the river. We then head off and visit the Elephant Breeding Centre and here you get the chance to get very close to the elephants and often there are younger elephants roaming around who are very curious of visitors! In the early evening you will be entertained by the Tharu Cultural Program. Often, this includes an exciting cultural dance or show including a stunning fire dance. Overnight at Resort.(All meals included).
Trek Duration: 6 hours
